I Try

Never assume my dear, it's irritating. I thought you would've learned by now. Now, what do you say we grab some lunch sometime next week?? That is, if we can discuss something other than what's continually on your mind.

Oh, Scarlett Jo

She is the epitome of gorrrr-gous!!! Need I say anymore?

Will update soooon...been so caught up with school lately..I have a post lined up that involves some pretty drastic physical transformations, and I know how much everyone loves before and afters (the number of hits I get on this is proof of that, no?)

And as a sidenote, I hate pictures of myself. Honestly photos do me no sense of justice whatsoever. I'm not a bad looking girl, but the camera makes it so...it doesn't seem to encapsulate the good parts of me! I know all you un-photogenic people out there know what I'm talking about. Out of the 30 pictures you take, only 1 comes out okay looking...and that's considered lucky! It drives me nuts! No wonder everyone loves their myspace angles!

Texting Over a Meal

I have to go on a rant about people who text over lunch/dinner/whatever meal outing or over a personal conversation.

Honestly, I'm so exasperated with people who simply cannot go 45 minutes without texting when having dinner one on one with someone.

What the hell is the point of asking someone to hang out with you if the only thing you intend to do is half text and half pretend to be interested in actually spending time with the person?

It's ridiculous, not to mention rude and inconsiderate and plain annoying. I understand that sometimes you can't help it, fine, shoot a text off before sitting down for dinner. Or wait until the other person steps off to the washroom or something. But when your phone is vibrating every freaking 5 minutes over the course of a meal, that's a problem. Put the damn thing on silent! I want to have your complete undivided attention. Because it's all about me me me, just like how it's all about you you you.

God! It's common courtesy to put away the phone for whoever you're spending the time with...the thing with texts is that no, you don't have to reply right away and most of the time, no one expects you to.

I always put my phone in my bag and only take it out to check the time when having a one on one with someone over a meal because chances are that I'm spending time with them for a reason, whether it's a date or with a friend or whatever, I want to talk to them and find out what's going on with them. It's so annoying and a pain when the other person you're with doesn't seem to get it and doesn't bother to reciprocate.

It's completely unacceptable to me...how is it different from yapping away on your phone at the dinner table?

I love texting...I prefer it over talking over the phone, but there's a time and place for it and it's not during a meal with someone else.

Il faut vivre passionnement et non pas seulement exister

You Know I'm No Good

1. Dearest, I'm sorry if you got the wrong idea, but I'm hardly interested...you see...I thought we were on the same page, that is, I thought you thought of me in a platonic way as well.

2. You on the other hand...consider me seduced. Sublime, yesterday was, I'm sure you'll agree..

10 Random Facts

I decided to post up 10 random facts about me that I did quite a while ago, but never posted up...as with a lot of my other posts, it just kinda became a draft. I'm trying to publish some of my many many drafts that never made it to the main page.

10 Random Facts About Me (because I'm going through a list phase)
10. My favorite color is dark green. I abhor lime green.
9. I consider makeup and beauty a hobby
8. I love spinach...I eat it at least 3 times a week mixed in salad, or steamed.
7. I live for bargains.
6. I exercise while watching gossip girl on Sunday nights and top model on Wednesday nights
5. I have a huge tendency to blush even if I'm not embarrassed. I've had so many guys mistaken me for liking them when I feel the exact opposite, it's ridiculous.
4. I want my own personal library...my future house must have one (or just a huge bookcase of books like the one pictured above). I'm a huge book fanatic!!!
3. I'm actually not very light. I'm not 80 lbs like everyone thinks. People don't account for my butt, hips and thigh weight when deciding to give me a piggyback.
2. I dream of going to study at the Sorbonne in Paris.
1. I take my coffee 2 cream 1 sugar. But most of the time I just drink tea mistos.

Man, like I said, going through my list of posts, I realize I write a lot of entries on this blog that don't end up getting published because of their depth and detail...rants about people I know personally, confessions about my feelings towards the random people (some good, some bad) and...yes, there's probably one or two about a guy I'm kind of interested in. And of course, ramblings about guys...I'm not so interested in. And then there are posts like these that don't make it because I can't think of enough random facts about me in the moment...thinking of 10 things is hard work!

Some of these do get published--mostly the ones that are so vague, you couldn't figure out who the heck I'm talking about...it really could be anyone, and that's how I like it.

The Olsen Twins

I absolutely love love love MK and Ashley's style. They can truly pull off so many looks and being them both being 5'1, never look short or overwhelmed. I think people who don't "get" them just don't understand fashion.

I want this book!! Was flipping through the pages of it at Chapters the other day and have fallen in love with it.

Who Should Do the Approaching?

What is with guys and the lack of initiative these days?

I was talking to a good friend of mine the other day and stating that how the guys I'm interested in show all the signs of interest, but never actually make the first move and go ahead and ask me out. He brought up the point that if I wanted a guy to ask me out, that I should do it myself. He stated that girls should take more initiative to approach guys and that guys shouldn't be expected to always be the ones who do the approaching. He said it was a turn on to have a girl do the approaching...I'm sure most guys will agree with this statement. I agreed with his mindset to a certain extent.

I mean it is 2009, times have definitely changed.

However rational it sounds, and however good a point it is, it is simply something that a lot of women will never actually follow through with. How many times have I heard the line, "Call me traditional, but I believe the guy should always approach the girl." Guess what? It's one thing for a girl to wait around for a guy to make the first move, it's another issue altogether if it's vice versa.

For me, it isn't so much the fear of rejection that the idea turns me off so much that I won't do the approaching...I can take rejection to a degree, but that it reveals a lack of initiative in his character and that the prospect of rejection is just too much for him to step it up. If he couldn't even muster up the courage to ask me out on a date, do I have to be the one to lean in for the kiss after 3 or more dates of no physical contact?

Sometimes I take it as he's just not that into me...only to hear a confession after I've moved on. I get so exasperated at the fact that it's too late.

What I'm saying is that when a guy is clearly wanting to take a girl on a date or interested in her, he should just do it and not be hindered by rejection. So what do you do when you get a "no" from a girl? Accept it and move on. Other than a small bruise of the ego, it really isn't a big deal. Rather, it shows you actually have guts...do I think less of guy after he's asked me out and he's not my type? Absolutely not...I understand that it takes guts and that at least he wasn't the passive, idle kind of type...which I abhor!

Sure times of changed, but that doesn't mean that you should be any less of a guy. Rather, girls should do more approaching, but a guy shouldn't do less simply because of this change in tide.

A late happy new year to everyone!
May you have a memorable 2009!!
