Circle Lenses for Bigger Eyes / Last Post Before the New Year

I was sent a notification on facebook the other day claiming that "Cbb Circle Lenses" has added me has a friend. Obvs an account used to promote circle lens buyers...I love how money making capitalists are taking advantage of social networking sites like facebook and turning them into a ground for advertising and selling. *Rolls eyes*

I was rather surprised that these lenses were making their way to into the Western market...and that more and more girls in Calgary are getting into them. They're really popular with celebs in Asia in general (girls and guys alike)

For those of you who don't know what circle lenses are...they are basically contact lenses, and like color contacts, are meant for cosmetic reasons. People wear them as they give the appearance of a bigger iris, making your overall eyes look bigger and brighter and "doll like" . Circle lenses are a huge hit in Asia, particularly in Korea and Japan, where I believe they originated.

Before and After

I fell into the craze for this about a year ago, ordering a pair of the Tutti browns (pictured above) and they do exactly as advertised...as soon as i popped them in i noticed a big difference in how my eyes looked! Those of you who own a pair know what I'm talking about. However, it became just a phase for me as they became to unnatural and alien like looking to suit me...not to mention that contacts (circle or not) just aren't comfortable and the dryness and irritation of contacts in general drive me insane. However, I've talked to some people who have wear them now and then and they absolutely love them. They're a great way to enhance your eyes and just another makeup tool in my opinion.

For those of you wondering where to purchase these, there's a few sellers floating around facebook (their credibility I don't know, as I've never purchased from them before)
and makeupforlife also does custom purchases from time to time...just check in with her blog now and then.

As a side note, this is usually a FAQ when it comes to circle lenses:

Are circle lenses safe?

All contact lens (soft/hard/colored/circle/regular/perscription/nonprescription) are potentially damaging. In the United States, regular contacts need a prescription by a certified optometrist to be obtained because they need to be specially fit to your own eyeball. Cosmetic lenses that have 0.00 power (plano lenses) are legal to sell in the USA without prescription, but most stores require one anyways.

In Asia, contact lenses do not necessarily need to be given by a doctor, nor is a prescription required to buy cosmetic lenses. Circle lenses are particularly seen as unsafe because they are said to be larger in diameter then normal lenses. This allows less oxygen to enter your eyes, often drying natural moisture out and putting strain on them. They also contain color pigment which can cloud vision when the contacts shift.

But the "largeness" of the lenses are relative - brands in America sell contacts with 14.00-14.60 diameter. Circle lense brands are the same. If you wear contacts already, check the information on your own lenses to determine if the circle lenses you want are the proper fit for you.

Almost all circle lenses sold throughout Asia are imported from Korea. Big name brands are usually FDA and CE approved. There are some smaller, unknown companies that produce the lenses, but they are not approved. Most of those companies are non-Korean brands, though not all. Do not buy them if you are unwary of the brand or seller! Always ask the seller all questions before buying :]

**Note: Just because you buy circle lenses in a country like China, Taiwan, Malaysia etc. does not mean you are automatically buying imitation lenses. Just be smart and research before ordering!

Eleanor Rigby

Hope everyone had a Merry Merry Christmas! I'm exhausted from all the Christmas shopping, the crowds and the cold! But nonetheless, I love the season, love the holidays, love the food, love the get togethers and generally everyone is always in such a good mood around this time! Ditto for New Years.

Anyways this is just a quick post as I only woke up to get some food to eat...I don't know why, but I keep getting mid-night hunger pangs to the point where I can't sleep lately. I'm blogging while I eat , but I plan to go to back to sleep soon.

Old Yellow Bricks

My darlings, I have only changed my status on fb from single to blank...I decided to remove the whole relationship status from my profile.

So even if it says, "Samm is no longer listed as single" nothing's changed, I'm actually listed as blank-- I'm restricting my privacy settings more...as you know I've already taken off my wall and photos tagged of me. Hopefully that clears everything up and I get no more questions about that!!

I think this person sums it up best:
"Why does a person have to tell the world that they are engaged, complicated or single at all? I think these are private matters that a person should share with close family and friends. There's no need to flaunt"

- (Oh yeah, turns out I don't have to buy a new camera after all! My dad got the exact same one I wanted on my previous post just yesterday night! Hurray!!)

- (Man, no gossip girl for two weeks now. I need my weekly fix!!!)

If what I read has nothing to do with me then I fully retract this post. And should probably stop assuming the worst. The coincidence of the date just kind of had me reeling.

I am cleared of the past. I don't hold any grudges and not everything I say or do has to do with you! I'm sorry if you think that way and if you misunderstood what I did or said (either of which I don't even remember as everything I said was just in passing.)

Of course I just feel uncomfortable when we're forced to make conversation as...well...what is there really to say given everything before? I don't believe in conversations that have a great deal of unnatural effort to them. I wish to put a painful past behind me and accept that things will never be as it was before (even if we've come to an understanding) I'm sure you agree with me on this point. I'm a different person from that of two years ago and you've probably changed as well...it's time to stop misunderstanding each other and assuming the worst of the worst.

I only wish you the best for 2009 and hope that everything goes well for you.

The District Sleeps Alone Tonight / Random Tidbits

Mumbo Jumbo yet Again

- I am a true food scavenger. Not only do I have this compulsive problem where I HAVE to have some kind of food to nibble on while I'm in front of the computer, watching TV, studying, reading, whatever, I am constantly on the internet looking at food pictures. I save the pictures and randomly look at them in my spare time at school.

- I have this weird addition to Taylor Swift songs lately. They're soo catchy I find myself putting a truckload of her songs on my mp3 player and hitting repeat.

- I'm not in the holiday spirit like everyone else. I don't know why, maybe cause of all this studying for exams and the fact that I haven't so much as started any Christmas shopping.

- Which reminds me that I should be studying.

- I've been eating so unhealthily lately. Tomorrow, I'm going to whip up a spinach salad filled with whatever fruits and veggies I can find and cancel out the junk I've been eating lately.

- It's so cold out that I feel perfectly content staying in on a Saturday night.

- It sucks not having a proper camera.
Ever since mine got stolen in France, I have been camera-less now for 4 months and counting. So instead of being able to take pictures of friends, happenings, my cooking attempts, shopping hauls and camwhore, I've been forced to use stock photos on my blog posts.

Not to mention I'm still bitter over losing the pictures I had from Paris and the UK.

I'm planning to get one as soon as the holidays are over.

- I love making these pointless lists. You know what else I love? Reading people's "dirty little secrets"

Use Your Love

Well my love, have you ever wondered what could happen if what we have actually happened? In other words, if what we want to happen happens?

Of course, we may also be so impassive that nothing may actually happen although there is that somethin' somethin' but we just don't know never know.

So what I'm trying to say is, now will what I want to happen that I want you to know to happen, happen?

Other Thoughts of the Day:
- I am done done done with my econ final!
- I need new winter clothes. Oh blazers, sweaters, boots, scarves and hats...how I've missed you so.

I love messing around on photofunia.
